Sofia Caterina Fernando

Hi, I’m Sofia, and I am a multi-disciplinary designer and artist with a passion for creating meaningful experiences across digital, physical and cultural spaces. My creative practice blends visual design and storytelling, which includes painting, graphic design, analogue processes and creative strategy.

As I am of a mixed heritage, I celebrate my background shaped by diverse influences and identities, I bring a cross-cultural lens to my work, often exploring themes of identity, belonging and community. The pieces of work I have created are an example of this as I explore my different cultures through patterns, colours, textiles, and memories. I am part Arab, Sri Lankan, British, as well as Armenian, which is a part of myself I am yet to get to know more about.

Whether I am storytelling through painting, designing intuitive interfaces, creating community-based projects or short films, I am drawn to work that connects people and ideas in thoughtful, unexpected ways. I believe that art is not only about aesthetics, it’s about intention, vulnerability and creating space for shared emotional experiences.
